Paulsen & Nilsen provide Interior Architectural services for residential, commerical and hospitality projects. We cater for a diverse range of clients locally and internationally from our office in Oslo, Norway.
A new project for Apt Properties, consists of 5 townhouses in vibrant Grünerløkka which have been developed in collaboration with Arcasa Architects. Paulsen & Nilsen have been responsible for internal planning layouts and the selection of materials and fittings. We have designed custom kitchens and bathrooms. The sqm varies between 102-120m2. The houses have 3 floors and large private terraces as well as a shared garden in the back atrium. The interiors bathe in natural light due to the expansive windows and doors.
The restaurant Taverna’n opened its doors at Youngstorget in Oslo in December 2014. Paulsen & Nilsen was responsible for designing and managing the construction of the 350m2 fitout. Bico Bygg og Innredning were the contractors and BJ Design has been a partner in the project.
Given that the venue was so vast, we ventured to create spaces within spaces. Our biggest challenge was to ensure that the concept was cohearant throughout, and that the materials palette allowed for enough detail to create interest within each space.
Located on a waterfront property, this project has been a successful collaboration between Paulsen & Nilsen and the architectural firm Nordic — Office of Architecture. Involving a full rennovation and expansive extension, the planning of this home creates a seamless experince between generous indoor and outdoor entertaining areas and more initmate family spaces.
Quality finishes, neat detailing and a mix of international art and furniture contribute to making this home unique in the Norwegian interior landscape.
Situated in a 1920’s building with generous ceiling heights and large windows, this apartment has been completely stripped-out and extensively renovated. Load bearing walls have been demolished and plumbing services relocated to make way for a more functional layout.
The general palette is clean and materials such as marble, smoked oak flooring, raw steel and large mirror surfaces provide bold, sharp contrasts and depth within the small space. Full-height doors and joinery extend the proportions of the apartment and contemporary art and furniture and provide punctuations in the otherwise neutral interior.
Situated in one of Bergen’s oldest pedestrian streets, our latest project, 'Marken 19’ is housed amongst timber buildings that date back as far as the 16th century. Before a fire in the 1900’s 'Marken 19’ had served as both a private residence and a shoe repair shop. Part of the building was later rebuilt with a new brick fasade and the property then housed a cabinetmaker - 'Knutsen i Marken’ - and had production facilities as well as a sales office.
Now 'Marken 19' is home to real estate agents Kaland & Partners. Paulsen & Nilsen, together with Sven Gundersen Architects, EGD Properties and Kontorrama have been responsible for the new interior which includes open plan offices, meeting spaces and canteen facilities.
Together with developers 'APT Properties’, Paulsen & Nilsen have renovated this 170m2 apartment in a 1920’s building in the heart of Oslo. We completely redesigned the space allowing for two bathrooms, three bedrooms and open plan kitchen, dining and living spaces. With custom joinery and bespoke solutions throughout, we have maximised storage without overfilling the space.
The detailing is traditional in order to compliment the old building while the planning now allows for the comforts of contemporary family living. Marble detailing in the bathroom, steel and glass doors, a custom kitchen and fireplace, detailed herringbone flooring - all elements that add extra value and make this apartment unique. A quick turnaround, firm budget and use of a neutral palette were key elements of the brief. The apartment was sold quickly after being put on the market.
